About Monique:
I have a lot of voluntary sector experience, starting from the age of 10 when I ran my first fundraising event.  Since then I have volunteered as a hospital visitor, Victim Support volunteer, faith healer chaperone, newsletter editor with Canford Heath Neighbourhood Watch, Literary Festivals, an Arts organisation and I run an annual event aimed at service-users, volunteers, carers and housebound people who write who want to share their writing at an evening event to an audience called Hear our Voices.
I worked for Poole Council for Voluntary Service for 14 years and I’m now a trustee.  For the last 4 years I have co-ordinated Ideas2Action which runs community recycling projects.
Through all these experiences I have gained an appreciation of the important role of smaller voluntary organisations; how they bring communities together and solve local problems. However, they have to do this with very little resources and they can be overlooked. I am very keen to change this.
